DISHA DARSHAN - Showing A Way Forward

A non-profit for South Asian domestic abuse victims

Dish Darshan was founded on April 10, 2007 by Ms. Rini Johar.  Ms. Johar is not only a practitioner of holistic medicine but also a foreign legal counsel licensed in India and registered with California bar association as an Attorney Applicant.

San Francisco’s Bay area has been Ms. Johar’s home since the last seven years.  Through her affiliation with local temples and Gurudwaras, she had the opportunity to witness many forms of abuses and sufferings of South Asian women.  It is through these experiences she developed the idea of forming, Disha Darshan, a non-profit organization.

Disha Darshan is a non-profit organization with a single vision – to provide help and support to victims of south Asian families suffering domestic abuse.  It does this by providing guidance to the abused on how to cope with the emotional stress of domestic violence through teaching them their fundamental rights.  Victims are trained in various vocations or help start self owned home businesses.

Disha Darshan also specializes in offering legal guidance in matters related to family law between India and the United States. Many times, a marriage that was registered under Indian Law may not provide the same statutory legal rights under US law. This is even more pronounced when dealing with Real Estate and other Asset related matters when addressing a domestic issue.

Disha Darshan was founded with a resolute idea that one woman with courage is a majority.  Ms. Johar believes that through faith and service one can overcome any misfortunes in life.

Disha Darshan has also formed partnership with various other non-profit and government organizations.   Following people and organizations are in the advisory board for Disha Darshan:
